MIDWEST CHALLENGE ANNOUNCES MERGER WITH LIFE REBUILDERS
Founder Joe Miller Joins Midwest Board
Midwest Challenge Inc. (MWC) announced today that it has finalized a merger with Life Rebuilders, Inc. of Lakeville, MN. “Life Rebuilders is a great addition to our current programming at Midwest Challenge, because it provides men with a supportive environment during their first few months adjusting to fulltime employment after chemical dependency treatment or incarceration,” said Gary Parker, President of Midwest Challenge. “Joe Miller, President of Country Joe, Inc., along with current Life Rebuilders board members Pastor Paul Marzahn of Cross Roads Church in Lakeville and Joe Blee of the Christensen Group have graciously accepted our invitation to join the MWC board. Their leadership and experience will be invaluable.”

Based in South Minneapolis, MWC was formed in 1972 to combat high rates of recidivism and relapse, by offering an alternative to men struggling with the difficulties of transition back into society. The Midwest Challenge residential programs provide a safe, supportive drug and alcohol free living environment for adult men who have a desire to transform their lives. Residents also receive guidance, and preparation to successfully secure fulltime, stable employment.

Life Rebuilders Inc. was founded in January 2006 by Joe Miller and has two program houses located in Lakeville, MN and Apple Valley, MN. Having longtime affiliation with faith-based chemical abuse programs, Miller recognized the difficulties that individuals completing these programs were having as they tried to transition back into the community. Obtaining adequate sober housing, employment, and transportation were the most difficult obstacles for them to overcome. Joe Miller decided to do something to change their situation by making houses available with affordable rent, where individuals could live up to six months, as they got back on their feet. He has also helped them find employment through business acquaintances and provided transportation for some to get back and forth to work.

“We are thrilled to now have Life Rebuilders as A Program of Midwest Challenge, because it provides men with even more support as they adjust to independence and full time employment” added Parker.
